Listening to God

Tuesday 10 June 2008

Its funny, im siting here, in the middle of the west end, my ears still ringing a bit from last night (well 4am morning) The sapin football game is going on, people are clapping, shouting, screaming, laughing, swearing and cheering! there are fireworks going off, people comming in and out of the center, clouds going overhead so its dull, then light, dull then light, ive been trying to write this blog post for 45 mins, every time i start people come in asking questions joking about, telling stories! im watching the clock to see when the half hour is up and the next 3 can get on the compters, and im trying to write a post about listening to God?

How is the heck can you hear god in this hustle and bustle of life?

Its a good question, If you really want to listen to God it requires that you MAKE TIME to do it, no excuses! You have to shut down the noise around you and listen......really listen....like you are listen ing to your favourate band, or when you pause a dvd and re-wind it over and over to try and catch what the guys are saying. THe next question is..."is god someone you can actually hear?" I believe he is, the bible says he is, and thats the best way to hear him!
THe truth is that we live in a world of never ending noise, everywhere we go or everything we do finds us surrounded by, engulfed and swallowed by noise! The danger is we concentrate on this noise and this stops us from thinking any deeper than the suraface, but listening to god involves this too, i believe God is in conversation, God in in music (not just christian music....usualy more so in secular music, he is bigger than chris tomlin and delireous) He is in magazines, books, tv, movies, computr games too!
He wants to speak to us, we are his children and he loves us! The challenge for us however, is to listen, really, trully, deeply, Listen.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul" (Psalm 143:8).
